my thoughts on the jonas brothers

Before I get into it, I must confirm that I am indeed a fan. Not just that, I was a proto internet stan. I was so in love with Joe Jonas as a pre-teen. I think I would have taken a bullet for him (I was depressed). I was on oceanup, jb fan, you already know. I went and saw them on tour. I even saw Nick solo when he co-headlined with Demi Lovato. Admittedly, I fell off before Lines, but I have always kept tabs on them. I still have their middle names, birthdays, and cities that they were born in deep in the crevices of my brain. OK now that that's out of the way, time for the vitriol.

Re: joe jonas getting divorced. So much for the wife guy brand the brothers are shilling. I wonder what convinced his team to break the news with this tidbit about the kids spending most of their time under his care. It sounds like they are trying to get ahead of a potential custody battle. I went to "The Tour" and Joe looked like he was in so much pain during "Hesitate". I felt pain too. If I were to guess, miss game of thrones misses her friends and family and having two babies has been hard. Joe's career is nothing in the UK though, so I could see the topic of relocating causing familial strife.

Re: their comeback. For whatever reason, post-hiatus Jonas Brothers give me a sinister vibe. From Nick and Priyanka's giant PR wedding to the brothers partnering with every brand under the sun, yeah. It feels like a massive money grab. Everything seems fake, but they know we'll eat it all up. I didn't really like Happiness Begins when it came out. It's coming around for me, but I still think it's corny. I like the new album, but still corny. My favorite tune is "Montana Sky". Justice for "Wedding Bells".

On Nick's solo endeavors. Nick Jonas’s solo albums did not really hit for me except for "Nicholas Jonas" (I kid, but his baby voice is so cute). Nick Jonas and the Administration is probably the best one, but it sounds like John Mayer and I think John Mayer is boring. The production on his "Nick Jonas" music is OK, but what really missed the mark for me was the writing. I need more vulnerability. A good example of this is Zayn’s latest single, “Love Like This”. I need genuine yearning. I need desperation! I need simp behavior. The horny songs aren't sexy. At best, they're catchy little tunes I can listen to when I wash dishes. At worst, they make me uncomfortable.

On Joe's solo career. Joe definitely is pushing for erasure of his JT era, but I think "See No More" is a good song! Is that embarrassing? Nick Jonas did an acoustic cover at a show. It's on YouTube. It's good. I go back to that too. I slept on DNCE and am still fast asleep. No comment.

On Kevin. He must have had the best PR person in the world to get him sexiest man alive. LOL. I think he's annoying and I think Nick agrees. I hate that he did that reality TV show.

On Frankie. He's a star.

My album ranking

Jonas LA doesn't count, but I love that non-album track from JONAS "Give Love a Try".

  1. Jonas Brothers (self titled)
  2. A Little Bit Longer
  3. Lines, Vines, and Trying Times - so many bangers on this one, but it has its skips
  4. It's About Time
  5. The Album
  6. Happiness Begins
